Hamburg, 17 September 2014 – In its Sustainability Report, the Hamburg-based logistics company HOYER is publicising its own key figures on sustainability and efficiency for the second time. In doing so, the company is committing itself clearly to its responsibility for its employees and the environment.
Between 2009 and 2013, the logistics firm reduced its CO2 emissions by more than 20 per cent. The conversion of its vehicle fleet to lower-emission engines, in particular, is having a positive impact on this development: 87 per cent of its trucks now comply with the stringent Euro V and Euro VI standards. Intermodal transport, too, is being expanded and is accentuating the trend. 80 per cent of HOYER’s transport routes are now being negotiated with the involvement of rail or ship transport – an increase of more than 15 per cent in the past five years. By implementing these and other measures, the company wants to reduce its CO2 level per tonne-kilometre by a total of 25 per cent by 2020.
As part of its commitment to social responsibility, HOYER attaches particular importance to accident avoidance. The number of accidents involving material damage and physical injury has been reduced significantly in recent years – and the company wants this trend to continue. By 2020, it intends to cut the number of such incidents by half. To help achieve this, HOYER is investing more in continuous training for its drivers.
The Sustainability Report makes it clear that HOYER attaches equal significance to economic, ecological and social aspects of sustainability. In this way, all transport operations can be carried out in line with sustainability principles. The family-run company sees this as the key to long-term success and a secure future.
