HOYER makes new appointment to management position

Rüdiger Buß takes over as Manager of the Gaslog business unit

Hamburg, 21 December 2016 – Rüdiger Buß takes over as Manager of the Gaslog business unit with effect as of 1 January 2017, and has thus been appointed to the Operating Board of the Hamburg logistics company HOYER. Wilhelm Wimmer, the previous Director Business Unit Gaslog, has already been handing over his duties to Rüdiger Buß gradually in the past few months, and will retire on 31 December 2016.

Rüdiger Buß was previously on the Management Board of the logistics services provider IMPERIAL Logistics International for many years, where his remit was to develop significantly the build-up and expansion of contract logistics. He can also look back on wide-ranging operational experience and the successful implementation of international projects. As Director Business Unit Gaslog of the HOYER Group, Rüdiger Buß will now be responsible for the European transport and logistics business with industrial gases, which includes compressed gases as well as gases liquefied under pressure and cryogenically.

The Gaslog business unit offers the international gas industry advice and planning in relation to integrated logistics solutions as well as implementing and operating customised transport and logistics concepts along the supply chain. Customers’ products are used in the automobile, steel and mechanical engineering industries, in medicine and in the food sector. HOYER has a presence at 50 locations in twelve European countries and is among the leading transport and logistics services providers to the gas industry. HOYER’s combination of expertise and equipment allows it to handle even particularly high-value and sensitive products.

The logistics specialist has at its disposal more than 1,000 gas containers of various sizes and characteristics, which are optimised both for intermodal traffic and for road transport. The truck fleet comprising more than 700 truck units is equipped with state-of-the-art safety and telematics specifications expressly tailored to the high demands of the gas industry. As a supplementary service in the medical technology area, small containers are supplied to hospitals, nursing facilities and private households.

In the future, the Gaslog business unit sees itself playing an increasing role as an outsourcing partner for the gas industry, to offer in-house logistics solutions such as warehousing, on-site logistics, IT, training activities and maintenance & repair. This is because HOYER has suitably highly qualified employees trained to deal with the safety requirements laid down in the industry.
