Location Transport Manager – Shell Kingsbury
I joined the HOYER Petrolog UK Management Development Programme in June 2014 after achieving a 2:1 LLB (Hons) degree in Law from Manchester Metropolitan University and completing the Bar Professional Training Programme at BPP University. After careful consideration I decided that a career at the Bar was not for me and started to search for an alternative path in Management. I was immediately attracted to the HOYER Management Development Programme.
I always wanted a career where each day poses a new challenge and where I would be given the opportunity to develop into the best that I can be. From the very beginning I was given ever increasing amounts of responsibility and was surrounded with experienced colleagues. HOYER really does maintain its core family values and I soon developed good relationships throughout the UK, providing me with an excellent support network and also made me feel like a valued member of the team from the word go.
The HOYER Management Development Programme has provided me with a structured and challenging training programme that has developed my knowledge of the industry and given me a strong base on which to build. The attendance of Senior Managers and Directors at various training courses has reassured me of the active interest placed in my own personal development and has also given me the opportunity to learn from others who have completed the HOYER Management Development Programme.
During my short time with the company I have already held positions of responsibility at two of the largest locations in the country; in my current position I am jointly responsible for the successful operation of a terminal consisting of 30 vehicles and 90 drivers. Although life as a Location Transport Manager is busy, I am given the freedom to be responsible for my own time and what I do with it. A lot is expected of me but there is definitely a relaxed approach as to how I go about doing my job, which in turn means I can manage the stresses of the job in my own way. Whether I decide to spend a day in the office or out on the road with a driver one thing is for certain: I have never been bored and there will always be a different challenge around the corner!
I have thoroughly enjoyed my time so far on the HOYER Management Development Programme and I am looking forward to the challenges and opportunities it will present in the future.
